Residential Solar Energy
Energy efficiency upgrades are the best way to save energy, reduce your utility bills, and make your home more comfortable. Home and multifamily building owners who have already completed these upgrades should also consider installing solar electric and solar thermal systems to further reduce their utility bills and environmental impact. Dramatic reductions in price coupled with tax credits and Illinois rebates and incentives have made residential renewable energy systems cost-effective. Elevate Energy can assist you in finding a qualified contractor. Please contact us at for more information.
The idea behind “community solar” is to provide power and/or financial benefit to multiple community members, expanding access to solar power for renters, condominium owners, those with shaded roofs, and those who choose not to install a residential system on their home for financial or other reasons.
The majority of residential utility customers in Illinois are not able to install solar directly on their residence – community solar allows this population to invest in and benefit direct from solar energy.
While no community solar programs currently exist in Illinois, Elevate Energy is working with Cook County to research business models and develop case studies in preparation for Illinois’ first community solar programs in the coming years. Click here to learn more about Cook County’s project.
Our solar work also encompasses assisting municipalities in providing education and technical assistance to member municipalities interested in developing solar projects to fuel public buildings
